Making the Syrup: Combine every components in a saucepan, heat until it reaches a gentle boil, agitating so the sugar melts. After that, take off the heat allowing it to reach room temperature entirely. Transfer into an clean bottle, cap it and store chilled, it will last for around a month.
For the Cocktail Base: Mix all the liquid ingredients into a sizeable container, leave to sit for one hour, then filter it best through cheesecloth, making it completely strained.
To serve: Add 85ml from the cocktail base into your cocktail shaker packed with ice, and agitate lightly for one minute to cool it down. Filter to a chilled martini glass or a similar vessel, decorate with a few cranberries and complete it by giving it a light spray with the mandarin essence over the drink.
